I wonder why Ben always writes about when a drive fails for this specific model? Is he paid off by seagate?

Ben almost always regurgitates previous listings. That's why more often than not there are typos even from 5 listings ago, and that's probably where the infamous "Ben math" comes from. Either that or Ben's been drinking.

This is cool. 1TB drives will be down to $100 right around the time my 500GB drive fills up...

I certainly doubt it #3, maybe the lowest they go is 120...but I can't imagine any lower this year.

My order for 2 on the Dell deal last week at $109 each is "delayed". At least it is not cancelled yet. Time will tell. That was the best price so far, and probably a fluke. I won't be too mad if they can it, since I have several 1TB's on hand already, just couldn't pass that chance up.

ben say that about all 1tb drives. I believe it a joke on the concept of putting all your eggs in 1 basket.

You are lucky #6. I ordered the 1TB drive from Dell, got charged on my credit card, but Dell cancelled the shipping because of "error" in charges, and then I had to fight to get my card credited the $109 + shipping. ("Fight" means 15 minutes on the phone talking to two different people and reading them my email trail to convince them I deserved my money back, which I finally did get 48 hours later).

Do not order from ZZF. Ordered OS, shipped via FedEx. Package arrived, no OS disc. Called ZZF, told to wait 4-6 weeks while they file a claim with FedEx. FedEx denied claim, said package was delivered, which it was, just no disc. ZZF then said, "We apologize, but please note that after filing and escalating your claim Fedex was not able to approve your claim. Per Fedex, there is no mishandling regarding your package and it was delivered to the correct destination. At this time, we will not be able to do any further regarding your package. Thank you for your patience." Now I am out $140!

I ordered two items from ZZF but received rebates for neither. In both cases they denied my rebate under the pretext that I did not submit the receipt .

OS are easy to download as torrents. It's the CD Key or serial needed to register/validate that #11 needs.

#6, I called Dell and they said the ad was a mistake and the actual price on the drive is $179.00. I had to call then and after talking with at least 6 agents, someone came on from India and said it was a mistake, but I could reorder at $179.00. I have gone through something similar with Dell before...bottom line, I you are not buying a big $ computer with Dell, forget them...I will buy nothing from them eve again.

I have learned years ago not to deal with Dell. Wonder why they are still in business. It must be the rock bottom prices on popular items which no one cares even if they get treated by poorly by foreigners who handles the customer complaints. Next time listen closely you will hear them joking in the background about how stupid Americans are.

Dell are not the same company they were two years ago. Their prices aren't attractive, even with their (now crappy) coupons. Once upon a time they would have stood by their price mistakes, but they must be having a tough time now.

While I have to agree that Dell has slid *way* downhill in recent years, bashing them over canceling an order you most likley knew was a mistake and expected to be canceled is a bit over the top. My main issue with them is that they don't handle the cancelation with as much gusto as they do notification of active orders. I get that they don't want to sell a $130 drive (ok, they now want $179 for it, but until it becomes a loss for them, I don't have much sympathy for pricing mistakes) for $110 including shipping, but at least put some effort into clearing up the misunderstanding.
