Tempting for the Sony Ericsson Z750a but they only have purple and pink left... I guess a case would work.
Regardless, can't find an easy way to unlock.
Need a cheap phone for use in Australia/Canada over the next 15 months. Any ideas?

Australopithecus would love a purple or pink phone, if she didn't have one already.

No. 1, you might want to keep an eye on the T-Mobile site, as they regularly have deals on quad-band phones and will offer more help with unlocking them than you'd get from AT&T. Also, the T-Mo phones are new - as opposed to the refurbs that AT&T is pushing. Currently, they have a Motorola v195 (actually, a v195s, which is a better phone) available for $30, but if you wait a bit they regularly sell it with a $25 airtime card for the same price. You can see what else is available here:
http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/prepaid.aspx
And you can get word of sales by checking d*e*a*l*news.com - after removing the asterisks, of course.

i just got a117 at worst buy for $10. it was $20 regular, still better than walmart $38, but turned out to be even a better deal. brand new, not refurbished. these are very good as a backup. not for everyday use.
