You can change your version of the Discover card with a phone call, no reason to reapply for a different card with different rewards, and no new application to lower your credit rating.

True EarningsĀ® Card from Costco and American Express
Best card ever, as long as you are a Costco shopper.

What about amex? I think they are the best cards and this site agrees with me. I love their blue cash card... http://www.bacon.com
Discover cards are OK but not great. Chase I hear are easier to get compared to discover and amex.

on the Chase Freedom card, the most you can spend to get back 3% is $600/month. So if you spend more than $600/month, it will be 1%.

Actually, there's a $500 cash back yearly limit on the Costco True Earnings AmEx card.
That having been said, it's still a great card. You earn a higher percentage back if you have an Executive membership instead of the usual Gold Star, although your membership fee goes up to $100 a year.

I agree with #2. Just 3% cash back on gas means about $100 back a year at my house with the True Earnings Amex Card through Costco.

Cash back = meh... Long 0% Intro APR/Balance Transfers is what I want.
I wish I could still get the 15 month Chase Visa 0% APR/Balance. I need it for my trip to Australia.

What you need is a job so you can afford to pay cash and not be a slave to the credit industry.

#5 I'm pretty sure you are mixing up executive member cash back offer with the American Express cash back offers. The true earnings cash back is unlimited (according to the american express website) and you get no bonus for being an executive member. If you are an executive member, though, you do get 2% back of your Costco purchases up to $500 dollars (according to the costco website.)

Most balance transfers come with a 3% fee. So that 0% rate is added to the 3% you pay in advance. Probably still better than the 17% you're currently paying though. I don't find the need to put many purchases on a credit card, so I also prefer low interest rates over playing the reward game.

The costco Amex card adds a year to the warranty of any Costco electronics (if and only if that electronic was purchased with that card).
HUGE PLUS.

Doesn't Costco automatically double the manufacturer's warranty on electronics? So would that void the credit card warranty? I doubt they stick it on at the end of the Costco warranty.

Costco's warranty on electronics is good, and I think they do sometimes double the manufacturer warranty. Picture this card this way- whatever warranty a usual shopper gets at costco by paying cash (not with the costco amex card), add one year to that warranty and that's what you would get on that electronic purchasing it at costco with this card. That's what I made sure the customer service was telling me before I went out and got my like 7th credit card [last week]. My first purchase was a new cell phone- it was the guy at the cell phone booth who told me about the benefit of this card in the first place.
Also, this card [if signed up for at costco] doubles as your costco card, and they automatically bill you for your costco membership on it yearly- so make sure to look at statements even if you are not using the card on a regular basis.
UPDATE: I called costco and this extra year is not through them, apparently its an extended warranty amex provides. Still have yet to check with amex on this. Apparently, some other cards provide you with this extra warranty too, although they don't tell you about it for obvious reasons...

Ben,
This post must be preserved - I did not see one single comment that talked about anything other than the subject matter. How many such occurrences do you get?
