Not a deal at all - Sprint.com has this same price.

Add to that the Instinct plan requirements. You have to have a simply everything plan ($100/month per phone), or if your account has more than 1 phone you need a $130/month plan + $20 for each additional phone.

As others have said, $130 has been the base price since Sprint first made this phone available.

$130 compared to $499 is a small difference in comparison to the $2400 contract you sign (assuming $99/mo for 2 years)

I don't get why people want to pay over $100 for a cell phone.

Yeah, this phone is cool, but #5 is right. I just checked into adding another line to our shared plan and they said we'd have to move up to a data plan, then add $20 for each additional phone. I thought it would be a simple $10 per month added to our Talk/Message Share plan, but instead it would end up costing us $90 more per month.

BTW, I got a heads-up that Best Buy is offering something special with the Instinct starting Sunday. I think it's a free 8GB memory card or something.

Radioshack B&M has this same deal WITHOUT the mail-in-rebate. Last week it was $30 less.

plus everytime someone sees it, they will say: "cool you got the iphone!? can I see it!! I'll sleep with you if I can touch it." and you will have to say "ummm no this is a craptastic imitation phone".

and they will respond "you mean, YOU are craptastic! go away!"

You are not required to have the SimplyEverything plan. Even if that was true at one time, it isn't now. You can get less than unlimited minutes and pay less for the plan. (one interesting fact, discounts from work/clubs can't be applied to SimplyEverything Data/Phone, but can be applied to Data/Limited phone) Although buying the Instinct is pointless without some sort of data plan. That said, its a nice phone if you are among those who enjoy their sprint service and hopefully will get better as this is only the first version.
