The best part about this camera is the 3" view screen. The only downside is that it has no image stabilization.

The Cannon 1100 has IS it is nothing like the IS you would get from a higher end camera though.

really...image stabilization? It is a 3x zoom, most people will only use auto mode and the flash will fire (e less than 1/60th of a second shutter speed).

The modes that may turn off the flash will give exposure longer than an IS could handle anyway.

Now if you use manual mode....

I have this camera and have no problems. Have even shot some low light hand held with no flash and no IS...no problem.

If it was a 5x zoom or larger so I'd you'd need it.

The Canon SD870, has a 3" screen and image stablization with a slightly wider lens and 8 megapixels. Has very good reviews and paid $234 for it last week. For a pocket camera this one fits the bill. Takes very good video as well but you will have to settle for zoom of 8

I had considered the Canon 750 but it's limited to a 2gig sd card while the SD870 will take take a 4gig SDHC card. I've used both cameras and they both take great pictures and each has the 3" lcd screen. READ The Reviews of both before you buy!

I own this camera and it is NOT limited to a 2GB card. I am currently using a 4GB SDHC Class-4 card, which yields about 2000 pics using the highest resolution settings. This camera is also compatible with the CHDK firmware.

stevo, The SD750 takes more than 2gb, as I run a cheap 8gb in mine.

This is my 2nd sd750 i liked it so much

the 28mm (equiv) vs the 35mm (equiv) if needed is the only reason to pay the extra $80-$100...but you would have to really need it.

After all, in 95%+ situations, the old fashioned wide angle method will work....take a few steps back Smile
