Now it depends if this version is compatible with DD-WRT, because the original linksys firmware sucks.

I have a v3.0 running openwrt and more recently tomato (http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato).
Rock solid, with good enough QOS that I can
run p2p in the background while I surf and ssh interactively.
Looks like ZZF has the WRT54GL for not much more ($45 + shipping).

Fraid the bus was missed on this one, I ordered one this past friday from newegg at $35. Must've gone back up some time this week.

I'm running Tomato on my WRT54G v4, which I bought a couple weeks ago for $3 at a local thrift store. I also have a v1.1 and a v2, all of which can run any of the alternative firmware. The v1.1 was free via FreeCycle, and the v2 was $10 earlier this year from the same thrift store, but it had the box and everything, which is why it was so expensive
. They all work fine.
