I know they're more expensive right now, but Sanyo Eneloops are not overrated. They actually hold their charge over the years much better than any other rechargeable battery I've ever used, including Duracell and Energizer. Eneloops are made in Japan, FWIW.
there are better deals than this, I picked up some other brand for about $1 a battery
