Avira is #1 (google av comparatives) ... nod32 and kaspersky are highly rated too.

You know, I went for nod not only because of the great reviews, but I haven't seen it lower than $19 ever. Been looking ever since it came out. Makes you wonder that you never saw a FAR with this product like all the rest-norton, mcafee, trend, etc.

I like Avast antivirus. It's free and it works well.

I never could figure out how to turn off auto updates in nod32 and make the tray icon not turn red. Annoyed me so I just went with free clamwin. Eset support just gave me their normal cut and paste response that they seem to give to everyone: uninstall, re download and install. I only want to check for viruses in my email and scan what and when I want. Still have about 10 months left on my Nod32 subscription but clamwin takes care of my needs just fine and it is free! Nod32 is good, Eset support is not so good, for me anyway.

This came installed on my new Asus eeePC1000H. I'll deal with renewal when it comes up.

It's a great AV, but go for Avira AntiVir. It's free for personal use and just as good. Both are far above Norton, McCrappy, Kaspersky, everything else, and ESPECIALLY AVG.
