The Panny is 10mp and 5x optical zoom vs 8mp and 3x for the Canon. Plus the nice Leica lens. Same price, I'll take the Panny, best kept secret in digital camera brands. Don't know anything about the website that's selling it but the camera is a point and shoot gem.

Not true for all Canons.
The SD890 IS is also 10MP 5x zoom.

Does this take AA batteries or lithium ion?

I've had a couple panasonics and I've been very happy with them. Kind of scary buying a camera made by a company that also makes vacuum cleaners but they are nice cameras.

#4 The 890 also costs roughly twice as much ($268 on Amazon). #1 stated that for that price he/she would go with the Elph. I just posted that a comparable Elph wasn't available at that price.

#7, cameras today have more in common with the other products Panasonic has made for 20 years than with Canon's original claim to fame, the mechanical camera.
