I'd recommend a cross-cut shredder. These shredders just shred in one direction and it's not that hard to reconstruct what the original document was from the shredded remains. Cross-cut on the other hand shreds vertically and horizontally. Almost impossible to reconstruct!

I've learned this one the hard way. gotta have a good shredder, I had my ID stolen with a garbage vertical shredder. you can't do better than this for $35.

From the website, it does look like it's a "cross-cut" shredder:

    "Shred Size: 0.28"Wx1.93"L"

This shredder is a type of cross-cut, specifically "diamond-cut". It makes roughly 2-inch long, 1/4-inch wide diamond-shaped pieces.

This unit is better than a simple vertical strip cutter, but not as secure as a good cross-cut shredder that makes much smaller pieces. Search for "micro cut".

Most cheap shredder's advertised as "cross-cut", and "class-3" make rectangular pieces that are similar to this unit's 2-inches in size, so they are not much more secure. Office Max has some more expensive cross-cut shredders on sale ($140 and $170), but the pieces are just a little smaller. You would be paying for higher capacity, not better security.

At $35 with no rebate, this is decent. To get better security, you are looking at something like the Fellows PowerShred MS-450Cs Micro-shredder for $200.

I would try to look for something with a higher sheet count cutting capability. Sometimes I shred my junk mail before even opening it, and if you have 3 sheets inside, folder 3 folder, including the envelop, that is more than 8 sheet and it would get stuck.
