this is a solid deal on this reciever, and would pair nicely with the polk sound bar for earlier in the week if you are looking for a clean setup in silver

Does this have the capability of decoding DTS-HD or True HD?

damn website seems down. These are usually good receivers and for this price it gives you a net of 2 more hdmi inputs so thats a plus.

what are some of the cheaper receivers with hdmi that also transmit sound? i don't think this one does.

Sadly, many Onkyo models have HDMI pass through. This means you need optical or coax to get the sound...which is really bogus. This is one model with a pass through instead of a repeater

Red Tag has this receiver for $158.

So can anyone recommend an affordable receiver with true HDMI support and not just pass-through?

darn it. so it's was a pricing mistake. would be very nice for $119. Was anyone able to get it for the mistaken price?

Onkyo TX-SR604, TX-SR605, TX-SR606 ranging $300-$400 (605/606 decode Dolby-TrueHD/DTS-MA)
Yamaha RX-V463/RX-563/RX-663 for $300-500 (663 decodes TrueHD/DTS-MA)

How does this compare with the Pioneer receivers?

pretty sure this doesn't have both dolbyHD or dtsHD, if it does it just 1 of them. i remember it's the 600 models that had both, starting at $350 refurb
