Great for people who run. Nano is the only iPod that you can use the Nike+ on to track your running. I miss my 1st gen 4GB that crapped out on me about a month ago. I might have to get an 8GB in black if available. But the 4th gen is only $50 more and more 1st gen like

The refurbished and new ones can't be told apart.

when the price gets around $130-$150 almost seems more worth it to pick up a 40gb or larger ipod classic. Sure the price gets higher, but with technology these days 4 gb is hardly anything. Even 8gb is barely enough to hold your songs, movies and pictures. Refurbished ipods have a great track record however.

just pay double to get quadruple the storage in a new unit

#3: the new iPod touch has the Nike+ transmitter included, although I find it a little cumbersome to run with. This generation nano is by far the best for running because it's so tiny.

I still have the original 4GB Nano 3rd gen. I didn't buy any iPod with a screen (only Shuffles) until it came out. I didn't opt for the 8GB because they always have larger units (and the smaller ones come down in price). Even the Nano 4th gen is now available in a 16GB, although I prefer the Nano 3rd gen style (yes, fatter, but shorter and no flip-action).

reasonably priced in light of the included warranty

Got a refurb 8GB from them a few weeks ago to replace the GF's stolen one. Fast shipping. Works great. (I haven't caught the ipod bug, but this'll take care of it if you've caught the bug.)

Yet again my wife has had an ipod go bad. It locks up and iTunes says that it's an unregistered (new) device. Not really happy with these products.

I'm anti-iPod but my car has a built in iPod connector and the radio has an iPod interface so I'm forced to join the iPod world.
