The past listings have been the men's version of Kent GMC Denali Road Bike. This is the inaugural listing of such bike. This is a good news for nuisance_sucks, m0f0, and milf_hunter because they are looking for a women's bike to ride from the garbage dump to elementary school.

This bike is a PERFECT match for Homidbergjewness's troll tent :

Not a great bike, but one of the cheapest road bikes around, and still much better than your average mountain bike. I put a couple thousand miles on the men's version before trading it in.

I don't trust bikes from Walmart. Actually, I don't trust anything from Walmart--even Hilary.

#3, how can you come to a conclusion about it being better than the avg. MTB if you only rode it a couple thousand miles then got rid of it? Even a Walmart $50 mountain bike should hold up for that long if ridden on-road instead of off.

#4, I bought a bike few years back from Wal-Mart. I'd say it was better built than Hillary. I had really fun riding it, and for a long time too.

No, but seriously, if winter was not around the corner... I would have jumped on this deal.

what makes this a "womens" bike?

It's a women's bike because of the curved shape of the frame (between the seat and the handlebars)

i don't understand why the 26" size is women's size when 24" sizes are sometimes labeled men's size.

#5, When I traded it in it was in fine condition and probably could have held up a long time longer, but I had a chance to upgrade at very low cost. With my riding style (which lacks finesse) and girth I destroy even decent mountain bikes within 1000 miles, besides, this was much more fun/easy to ride than a mountain bike.

No wonder GMC needs $$ from Uncle Sugar - now they're building bikes instead of trucks! sheesh.

i have to disagree with this, if an aluminum road bike held up to your uses, a heavy-ass steel mountain bike would be all that much more durable. It's very hard to destroy a steel framed mountain bike and not be in the hospital as a result. Mainly people look down on them because they weigh more, because bike nuts are so caught up on weight of every tiny lil thing. If it weren't for that, a steel frame rides better than any Al ever could.

If you're not speed racing, this will fit the bill very nicely. Extra weight & resistance (compared to Trek's or other high-quality low-weight bikes)? Well, that's a better workout. I like #11's info -- that a heavier guy got some mileage on it. $130 compares very well to the nice Trek I got for $1500. Different bikes for sure, but if I need to get out and spin, this is a nice bad-weather bike.

What is with marketing a bike with the GMC Denali name?
#16   afroginawell - Posted 6:39 am PST 11/13/08 (111 Posts)
#13, Of course I don't destroy the frame itself, just every other component on the bike to the point where it's cheaper to get a new bike than to repair the blasted thing. Besides, the main point of my original post is that it "better" as in easier/faster/more fun to ride (on the road) than most mountain bikes, not in build quality.

I bet it wouldn't be as good as a mountain bike for mountain biking.
