I've seen some of these mini-copters for less than $20. Not sure what makes this one worth $35, but I'd wait for another deal if you're looking for one of these for your nephew/son/cube-mate...

Are there any of these that fly for longer than it takes to charge? Most you spend 2/3's of the time charging.

You can pick up Air Hogs Radio-Controlled Havoc Helicopters at your local Target store for around $25 ea.

Yeah - go to Target - save the shipping and the $10.

Are they sturdy enough to withstand crash landing or even rough landing. I had a medium quality helicoptor with chargeable battery. It a long time to fine adjust to stabilize it so that it will remain steady while airborne. Finally, every time I landed it (albeit not so gently), some thing would break, so I had to glue it using epoxy and fine tune it. Any one with similar experience or I had a bad piece?

^ I bought 3 Air Hogs Havoc Heli's almost a year ago for my nieces and nephew and they still work. Body is made of a compressed styrofoam to keep them light and durable.

The choppers that I flew were very hard to stabilize and very frail from being so light. After losing Billy, I shouted for everyone to get to the chopper, but only me and the girl made it out. Poor Apollo creed got his arm shot off Sad.

Because the tail rotor is horizontal, it must be using opposing main rotors so it probably is very easy to fly. With a horizontal tail rotor the speed of the tail rotor will cause forward/backward movement as it will control the angle of the main rotor by lifting/lowering the tail.

This configuration requires 3 motors (and 3 channel controller) compared to the cheaper ones with 2 (and 2). Also this one is radio controlled compared to the cheaper infrared.

I have not tried this one but giving the differences between it and the cheaper ones I would guess it is probably well worth the extra cost.

I think I'd rather fly with those sling shotting monkeys.

#9 has good points.

Three channels mean more manueverability.

Circles around the rotors mean that flying close (or into) obstacles does not mean the rotors get busy shredding themselves.

I second #13's comment... It's pretty fun as long as you don't fly out of range haha.... and then watch it drop into the water. Not the best price however.

Last year I wanted to get one of these toy helicopters for my niece, but my sister didn't like it. I am still interested to get one for myself, lol. Any one knows which is the best model within $50?
