Regardless of how it sounds, that speaker cannot tolerate 1200 watts. Where would the heat go?

I think they mean 1200 watt max. It only takes 400 watt RMS, which is the normal way of measuring the input of the sub. That being said, unless you are TRYING to make your car rattle, you'll never even hit 400 watts rms.
Not too bad for a cheap sub, but I would look elsewhere personally.

If you're looking for something cheap, this is it. But to have the beats, you gotta have the package -> box, amp(s), speakers, etc. With that being said, Kenwood is not known for their subs, hence the price.
