I travel every week for work and i reccomend a backpack style bag if you dont mind looking like a school kid. The Wenger brand is great.

I got the larger version of this case (fit the 17" notebook).
It is very comfortable & sturdy. Looks nice too.
I agree with #1 about using a backpack version when traveling.
It distribute the load evenly on your back and contains enough
compartments for all your junks.
