how do they have thousands of refurbs all the time? Is that a sign of problems. I sent back two dells for a refund in 1.5 years.

Dell laptops and desktops are good and reliable. I've also had excellent experience with Compaq (now HP) desktops. This is based on supporting hundreds of corporate users. I will tell you though that I am writing this on a very capable Mac iBook G4 that I can actually put on my lap without frying the family jewels!
