GoDaddy.com has .COM domain registration on sale for $1.19 for the first year (regularly $10) with coupon code 99DOMAIN. They have good prices from a leading reputable registrar. If you've seen some of the other cheaper registrars, take note, as with many of them you don't actually own the domain you buy!

Godaddy is the king of all domain management sites. I highly recommend them as there is no better place for support

Godaddy's interface and usability is ad-filled garbage.
Their support is hit and miss. Sometimes great, often crap.
Regardless, I don't pick a registrar or host for their "support" - I pick them for reliability, usability, speed and security so I don't have to ever even bother contacting their support. To that end, I recommend either namecheap.com or domaincontender.com for the best bang from value registrars, and calicohosting.com for the same from a host. Godaddy is a bottom feeder. They're popular, but so was MC Hammer.

Do any of these sites actually pass FULL ownership of the domain to you?

#6 If have three sites registered with them and have full ownership. So, no problems there.

Please note that GoDaddy sells these domains cheap as lost leader. The absolute cheapest you can register a domain is $7.55 for a .com, .net, etc... This is why many companies charge $9.95 or a year, because then after credit card fees, etc. you come close to breaking even.
I personally use www.MadRooster.com The domains are 100% in your name, and they are an enom reseller, so if they do ever happen to go out of business, you can contact Enom directly to get control of your domain.

Nice price drop from an already decently-priced registrar. The hard part is actually getting the .com you want.

1and1 is a better deal.
They had their problems in the early days, but for the last 3 years it's been perfect.
If you email tech support they usually reply the same day with real answers.
Very happy with 1and1 and the prices can't be beat.
