Does anyone have any experience with this shaver? Was considering getting one but have never used anything but a razor and am a bit leary.

This is not that special of a deal... Amazon price is a buck less after applying the $30 instant coupon from Panasonic (PANADEC8 - good through December 31st).

#1, if you've never used anything but a razor, how would comparitive details about shavers be any use?

First of all, don't think that a higher priced shaver is better unless it has some ultrasonic anal lube feature. These foil and linear blade shavers are either almost all the same or defective (with generics). Wet/dry is useful, not to shave wet in the shower because that wastes water and the water creates such an extreme momentary suction that it shaves off the top layer of your skin which is great if you are a coal-miner using it the first time, not so good for anyone else.

Otherwise, wet-dry means you can wash it, rinse it clean in the sink. That's very nice. Rotary shavers are the alternative, better for very coarse beards, but their larger shape can't get into recessed areas as well.

Generally speaking, if you are the average guy under 32 yo, a foil shaver is the better option unless you are overweight enough and/or otherwise have loose enough skin that you have few contours to navigate with a shaver. Otherwise, a rotary is better for more planar surface shaving.

In any case, it's not likely you'd get the value out of a $80 shaver, generally blurbs like titanium coating on the foil aren't important as the blade itself needs replaced long before the foil and by the time you replace the blade a couple times, replacing it again plus the foils could've bought you more than one new shaver if shopping for lower cost deals as any Ben's Bargains shopper would.

Electric shavers aren't bad, they just tend to be not nearly as close a shave as with a plain razor. The ease of cleaning, and speed at which you can give yourself a quick shave are good for convenience though.

Maybe the "nanotech blades" for this model will help get it closer to the feeling of having shaved with a blade.
