60 - 20 - 20 + 0 = 40?

the marketing hype about 2009 using minimal CPU/memory resources appears to be true

i've hated Norton in the past but I've been tempted to give them another shot with this release. should i just stick with AVG for now?

Yeah bleh - I wouldn't take Norton at half the price...

I've stayed away from Norton recently just due to one reason - NONE of their recent offerings (not even corp) have supported a Right-click scan under VISTA x64 (I think it does under x32). Can anyone verify if this has changed in 2009?

The $40 rebate expires for Staples on Fri 28 Nov (today), and for Norton it expires on 29 Nov. It's a vastly improved product by Norton standards, I have it on my system already and it's much better in terms of speed and size of footprint than the 2008 version.

I'd been reading up on this as this is being touted as all new ground-up version.
Those who have demo'd it are saying A) It's not the old Norton Bloatware, B) It uninstalls completely with no real remnant's, C) It's junk mail filters aren't the best, but those can be made better as update come along D)It's fine on Xp And Vista-32 E) No it's not the perfect ISS, but then none ever are.

I'll bite as I've an old ZA disc that I've walk away from as it had issue also. I'll see how this is first on the boy's unit.

This is MUCH better than previous versions. Installation took less than a minute and it uses very little resources. It's been getting excellent reviews across the board by both users and the press.

Will I regret making the purchase before I receive the rebates?

Norton has a bad rep, I'd stay away. It is a shame because back when it was a great product, but Symantec got a hold of it and now we have crap.

Thanks for all the feedback folks. Even though this is free, it sounds like it's not worth my time.

I did one of these free norton things before and ended up only getting 20 back. THey kept on saying my other rebates were invalid. I wouldnt trust them anymore, sticking with the free online SW.

no takers on my 'right-click scan in Vista 64' question? I really want to know Sad

Watch out for the upgrade rebate, may have already used before if you do a lot of rebates on Norton.

I am still trying to figure out if the rebates expired or not. does anyone know?
