I've got the BBC version and it is every bit as great as everyone says.

I'm also just glad to see the prices on blu-ray falling so rapidly!

I just ordered this. Costco had the BBC version for $63. Id rather have the Attenborough version but not for twice the price.

This US version has almost an hour of footage edited out by the Discovery Channel for time and so they could fit in commercials when they first aired it.

Yup, i agree with #16. The PS3 is still considered one of the best Blu-ray players out there considering the price, although some stand-alone players like Samsung's BD-P1500 can be found for < $200 sometimes.

Great series. I am thinking about getting either HD-DVD (really cheap) or Blueray just for this.

The production itself is absolutely breathtaking. I have the DVD version narrated by David Attenborough, so I don't know anything about the US version's commentary, but the footage should more than make up for any potentially crummy narration. If nothing else, $24 for the DVDs would make a good present.

I'm not a SW fan but the images are too beautiful to pass up. I'm in.

This will be a great addition to my new blu-ray player. I Tivo'd this when it was first on and saved it to computer. I watch it again again every now and then. It's incredible.

Awesome! The best reason for the Discovery channel to date.

I heard that you don't get the special features on the blu-ray version (you do on std. DVD). Can anyone confirm?

I have to agree with the others.. Attenborough's version is more interesting.

I don't know what it is about the British female voice.. It is almost like a distraction..

Does discovery even sell the british version or is that a BBC copyright?

#29 I think this would be a great learning tool for fourth graders, it's beautiful enough to probably even hold their attention and could lead to some great discussions.
