According to Apple's site: "All refurbished iPod models include: The same one year warranty as a brand new iPod, all manuals and accessories, including unopened earbuds, a new battery and outer shell, a new white box."
Why buy a new one then? Save the money. My concern would be with the battery more than anything.

To even ask probably means you're not iPod material.

Even as refurbs these things sell for prices at nearly double the competition. What is with Apple and their customers who keep them in business?

My kid has an Ipod on his Christmas list and I asked if he might want to consider the Zune instead. I've read some positive things about them. No, he wants the Ipod. What I'm wondering is how does it work if you have two kids with their own Ipods on the same computer? Does it keep a separate Itunes account for each of them or is it a problem?

I've purchased several refurb apple products and each of them has been nearly indistinguishable from new. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again.

I have the 8GB Touch and it is a sweet player. Wonder if these come with the latest firmware or not? The older versions you had to pay 10.00 to get the FW load to get you to the APPS store and get all the other goodies. Quality, awesome sound, does not work in all speaker docks though as the IPOD clasics do. Oh, and yes I bought a refurbished unit from Apple. It came like it was brand new..not a scratch, and all the acessories. Could not tell it was refurbished. Comes with standard warranty anyway. Over and out....

The reason I would recomend zunes for two teens over ipods is that if they ever get your card you may start to dislike itunes at 10cents a song, on the other hand unlimited downloads at 14 bucks a month for both of them sounds like an idea that everyone could appreciate.
