I used the N52 for FPS and MMORPG gaming. It was very handy as it fits the hand nicely and you're able to program macro's for various keys. In addition, you can "shift" through 3 key sets with the press of a button.
It takes a little getting used to and you can switch over to typing by keeping your keyboard within reach, not a problem at all. If you're willing to give change a chance, it's a good device.

I have the regular edition of the N52, and I love it. I had the N50 before that, and I can't imagine going back to a regular keyboard + mouse.

I use to have the N52, until it stopped working after 3 years. I had to go out and buy the N52TE the next day because it was too hard to go back to a key board. The N52TE is a lot prettier but if you can find the original N52 buy it.
Once you try it you will not go back, it fits your hand like a glove. There is no issue going back and forth to typing but with a head set you can push your key board to the side.

I have the N52 and LOVE it I'm a FPS player mainly.
I got my N52 for like $18 so paying $57 for this thing is kinda expensive.
I hope the fixes some of the issues I have with the N52s.
- stiff buttons
- the "shift" key is so hard to press

ive got the n52. love it. i think it was $20.
as far as placement goes, ive got the n52 on the left of keyboard, the keyboard in center, and my trackball on the right of keyboard. they all work together. most of the time i dont use the keyboard, but it is right there if i need more keys.
$57 seems like a lot to me.

#2, this isn't used for typing messages or to replace a keyboard. It's basically the WASD part of your keyboard, plus the directional pad, plus a mouse wheel. It's for gaming. I love my regular-flavor n52 but I find the "tournament edition" to be pretty asinine. You used to be able to get an n52 for around $20-$40, then they added a bunch of lights, painted it black, and doubled the price.

Thanks for the info on the regular N52 deals, might have to hunt one of those down. I love me a good input device!

I have to agree with most of the people here. I have the standard N52 and love it. I've never used the N52TE but it seems high priced.

With the classic version, you had to install a driver and copy your setting over, which can be a bit of a hassle at a tournament.
I have heard the TE has improved the stiffness of the buttons. My n52's shift button and fire buttons are very stiff. I'd like to upgrade, but the cost is till too much.
