These go on clearance for $60-70, however REI.com has a policy that you can send it back whenever for whatever reason. That is why you're paying more. Also, the clearance buys are usually on bad colors that they're trying to get rid of.

Apparently, this is one of those killer jackets everyone has to have but only a few will pay the full price for. It's not for me but The North Face makes some stellar products.

price is nice but this jacket is not that great in my opinion. its not a wind blocker. wind cuts thru this jacket like swiss cheese. i replaced my denali a few years ago with the mountain hardware wind blocker fleece which is way warmer.

I believe Jan Sport bought north face. However, North face jackets are still solid products. I have had my north face jacket for close to 6 years. It's been an excellent product. The jacket is getting old and the jacket does not keep me as warm as before. But that's after 5 years of harsh climate. Good brand to keep you warm.

This is nice if you have an extra $95 and want to look like you spend time in the outdoors.

what's so special about this fleece? aren't they all made with the same material?

These are very nice jackets--I've already spent my budget on my husband this year but I'm considering going over it because of this deal

Yet another example of people paying too much money just for the name on the tag...

North Face is great quality; REI is the Nordstrom's of outdoor gear retailers; and Jan Sport guarantees everything for the life of the product.

    Douchey looking jacket. REI rocks.

its a nice jacket by itself
but its also a must-have for North Face shells because it's made to zip inside the shell, makes it a lot warmer that way =)
and North Face products are pretty damn durable, considering this will last you 4-5 years, compared to most fleece products that get washed out after a couple of cycles, it's worth the money, I think.
