If you want this new, Amazon.com has it for $45. They also have the WRT54G2 for $45 and the WRT54GS for $54.

I thought I paid for this router for like $30 three years ago. They still go for that much?

Surprising the price is still so high on these. I have a couple of them and they are rock solid.

what version is this? does it work with ddwrt or tomato?

get it while it's on sale, the price for this series will never drop because linksys accidently made it too perfect so no product can replace it(unless u wanna n). this works even better with ddwrt and tomato(recommended because tomato is much easier to use that ddwrt), linksys should pay tomato or ddwrt some money.

Love them, have been using them for a long time (2001 wired). Not the same one, but on my second.

one word: tomato

the tomato firmware makes these routers even better. you can do all sorts of things there, it's awesome! mine blocks all ads at the router, updates dyndns, tracks monthly bandwidth (darn you, comcast), and i'm trying to teach it to pull a good shot of espresso.

Agreed, I was trying to figure out why everyone thought this router was such a pussy. And I was thinking, yeah, you guys are really tough calling out a router like that. Now I feel like a real carrot head.

The version is very important with these. With each prgressive version, they've gotten shittier and shittier, and the hacks only work with certain versions. I have a v2 from 5 years ago and have never once had to reset it - it's on 24/7.

I liked Linksys until 2 routers crapped out on me within 12 months. Switched to D-Link.

I like 54G, but now prefer ASUS's WL-520gU. This is an open source plus an USB port.

my favorite router, if you're allowed to have a favorite. mine has DD-WRT flashed on it and works great as a wireless-ethernet bridge for the xbox downstairs.

I agreed with #15. I too switched to D-Link and have been happy ever since.

I finally got my Apple Airport extreme with USB printer sharing and dump both Dlink and Linksys. Smile
I do own the V2 version of this unit and 3rd party firmware. They still work ok after several years service-however the technology with in is outdated. Even boost the antenna power to max- signal strenth is still weaker than Liksys 160N or Airport extreme under my envirement.
