McAfee is fine. I've used them for years until their hiccup with Vista (they did not support Vista at first). Since then, I've used the free versions, which are not as comprehensive, but works for my needs. Btw, McAfee Anti-spam software is annoying and can hang up your system for some time.
AVG, there are some not so great reviews about them. I prefer Avira myself.
