How can you tell which version of the WRT54G 802.11g router you have?

Had this router and had to reboot it at least once per day. Bought a Netgear and have had zero problems since.

I've had one for several years and it still works fine. A very solid router!

WRT54GS are listed as 16/32 MBytes in the DD-WRT website.
Mostly 32MB in earlier version 1-3

wow really good price, but some of these new versions won't be able to be upgraded to the open source. Maybe that's why these are cheap? No one wants these?

this modem is mediocre at best, use it at home and it's not the best one, looking for a nicer modem

You can run ddwrt on this but requires some soldering and JTAG so I'd avoid it unless you want to run it stock.. great price.

The best router I ever used. I got the newer version, and the range is horrible.

acording to the dd-wrt wiki there is a jtag-free way to upgrade this http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=38392&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
also from what i read this is the 32mb version, so plenty of room in memory

FACK! Checkout doesn't work for me at confirmation--it says that they could not finish my order and to order from another retailer.
FACK! (I have a Netgear WGT624 so feel sorry for me. It's shit that isn't always compatible with all network cards)

This is a nice router, but linksys routers do need to be rebooted more often than some others. I really like the buffalo routers and I read that the injunction against them has been lifted, so they should be in the wireless router business again. The cheap buffalo routers were even better than the original WRT54G. Also, dd-wrt is awesome. It does everything. It is the quickest, easiest, cheapest way to add vpn.

Google these words, DD-WRT Linksys Tomato, you will find why these routers are selling like hot cakes at this price.

Just as an FYI I do not believe it is a WRT54G, it is actually a WRT54GS, which is an even nicer router, w/Speed Booster. This is how it shows up in my cart: LKS KIT WRT54GS ACCESS POINT.

PS $19.99 + $6.99S/H + $1.76Tax = $28.74, still good.
