Just wait for the x200, or 50% off again.

50% off is amazing. Even at nearly $800, it's a lightweight laptop and a ThinkPad. Definitely worth considering if you need one now.

at this price you're not getting an optical drive. if you want the lenovo brand, add 200 for the drive and 150 or so for the ultrabase.

How is the screen compare to the Vaio?

    #6, which Vaio?

The x61 next to a Vaio Z doesn't look so good. Still, this is a pretty darn-good notebook at a fairly low price. It's not enough to make me panic and buy one, but it's not horrible.

you can get a better deal with another brand unless you are a Viao fanatic

i have the x200, which is widescreen.

this version has a standard screen and is supposed to have a longer batter than the x61, but i think the x200 has the longest battery life of them all.

u can just buy any external optical drive. You can get a cheap one for around 60 bucks. x61 only come in 1024x768 resolution, which is pretty bad.

#11, 1024x768 is not really "pretty bad". The screen is only 12" so that makes it ~106 pixels/inch. Compare that to 15.4 widescreen with 1280x800 that's only 98 ppi.

Besides if it were 1280x1024, you'd need a magnifying glass to see your desktop icons Wink
