for that price you need 1920 x 1200

Note: This is a 16:9 monitor as noted by the 1920x1080 resolution, not a 16:10. Also note the 2ms is GTG (grey to grey). With that said, makes a decent 2nd TV or for the 360/PS3/Wii. As a PC monitor, leaves much to be desired.

Yeah, 1920x1080 just doesn't cut it.

16:9 monitors are good if you watch 1080p video on your computer so you don't see the black area on both top and bottom of the display. You get the real full screen. 16:9 monitors are actually getting its popularity. Check out the LCD industry report, and you will find the production qty of 16:9's is increasing.

1920x1080 is too low for a 24". You don't really get any more vertical viewing area over most 22" at this resolution.

Can you color calibrate this monitor decently?

Push the resolution and that's when those dead pixels show up. I find 1 to 2 at the 1920 resolution.

1080p are cheaper to make so of course the companies are gonna make more of them. It is same how wide screen monitors have become common place. I miss the old school 1600x1200 resolution. The wide screen and 1080p monitor are proof that companies push cheaper less quality items.

Asus does not make good monitors...go with a Samsung

This is alright, the resolution could be a bit higher though.
