Cost Central has the HP GW405AT 2-Button USB Laser Mouse for $16 - $20 rebate [Exp 1/31/09] (limit 5) = -$4 with free shipping. It has a scroll wheel, so not all is lost by using such a basic device.

#1 I agree with you since I never got my rebate from ecost. In addition, it requires
Mail To: Hewlett-Packard Financial Operations
Attn: HP Smart Buy Desktop Options $20. Rebate Code OPT-O28
Call Box 7000
Aguadilla, Puerto Rico 00605-9000
Is it a joke or what?

#4 That way if anything gets lost they can blame it on the Puerto Rico mail system.

That would be a miracle if ecost sent you a rebate check for this. Cost Central on the other hand, if HP didn't pay out...

Rebate might not be from HP, but from a HP subcontractor. Still reliable?

I'd be really wary about this deal. I ordered a few mice last time this deal was posted and I have yet to receive the mice, let alone even try to apply for the rebates.

I'm scared the rebate won't come back.

Thanks #6 but don't forget to check the mailing address --->Call Box 7000
Aguadilla, Puerto Rico 00605-9000
Do you believe that oversea mailing address is safe for consumer in US? if so I wish you luck.

#6, I'm with you on that. I did have a pleasant experience with HP's fast rebate process in Puerto Rico.
The question now is if HP gonna fulfill all those orders.
It's been two weeks, I'm still waiting for my order.

It's irrelevant where you mail the rebate form, HP owes the rebate providing you meet the terms and HP is a US company. Further, no company with the public exposure and ongoing rebates that HP has could afford the bad PR from not honoring rebates.
Back when HP offered the DDR2 memory for almost free after rebate, LOTS of people took advantage of that offer and that rebate form also went to Puerto Rico. The check came in the mail faster than most do.

It's regular postage to mail to Puerto Rico. I ordered 4 DDR2 sticks from Cost Central in last promotion and got all my rebate checks within a month.
I ordered 2 of these mouses at Dec 4th, but Cost Central ran out of stock, so they redirected the shipping from HP warehouse, and shipped my order in regular first class USPS, came in with two separate mails, first got in three days ago, the second just came in today.
You only have 20 days from the ordering date to postmark your claim. However, it doesn't requir any UPC barcode nor serial number to fill in rebate form, so basically, as long as you have the original reciept for the order, you can file/mail out your rebate claim right away, don't have to wait for the shipment arrival.
