I picked up a Previously Ordered New Inspiron 1525 with 320GB, 3gigs of RAM, Vista Premium, upgraded processor 2.0GHz/667Mhz FSB/1MB cache and optical drive as well as webcam, roxio creator 10, and true life screen for $461 delivered after coupon took off $109. I couldn't build it for less than $908. Methinks it was mis-priced as a refurb. Thanks, Ben...

The Inspiron 1525 is one of the best laptop deals from Dell these days. Make sure you get at least an Intel Core 2 Duo 2Ghz processor, also check the system ID to see if it has a webcam, not all do. I have bought at least a half dozen well configured 1525's for friends and family over the past few months, each one fully configured and less than $500. The best thing about the 1525 is that it has XP drivers available from Dell. Although all systems come with Vista pre-installed, it is a snap to install XP on these, these systems are very fast with XP. If you do plan to get one and put XP on it, you will have to make a new XP install CD using nlite (google it) to incorporate SATA drivers into the install CD, otherwise it won't recognize the hard drive during setup, but using nlite, this is a relatively easy process. Also, if you plan to put XP on one of these, don't get more than 3GB of RAM, 32 bit XP can't utilize more than 3GB of RAM.

Thanks for excellent post, #4. I was looking for a new line of Dell laptops that I can install XP on. Sorry to say that Vista, even though SP1 worked out some issues, still doesn't cut it for me, too long to start and shutdown.
