I have worked on several HP laptops, they all overheated and the fans died.

A tablet at this price is a steal! I remember paying 3k for mine about 3years ago!

Not a bad deal if you're looking for a tablet pc. The touchscreen + active digitizer works really well when writing notes. The downside... you do get a lot of glare on the screen when in a bright room. Also, this is no panasonic toughbook though, so dont go dropping this on the floor. IMO, the fingerprint reader is a waste of money.

Only if it was a core 2, this is under power if you want to do graphics on it. Why doesn't Hp make intel tablet like many other tablet makers out there?

Got this with the previous deal (so paid $100 more) for my wife. It's perfect for her. Just got it up and running last night. I have to say, it's a sexy little tablet, and certainly worth $600.

Re: the glare. Does anyone know of a decent anti-glare film is available for glossy displays?

#24 -- Would the screen be useful for working with something like Adobe Photoshop Elements? I have contemplated a digitizer, which might be better. I only dabble in PSE, but would like better control over a mouse.

Coupon code worked. Got one. Came to $700 with shipping and a ew other things I added to the base congiguration but probably one of the best deals on a HP tablet in a long time.
I'm not new to tablets - been using them for a long time and I really like the ability to use a pen - and now with this tablet, my finger too.

Nothing wrong with AMD except the more power usage than Intel Chipset, performance wise, you're getting what you pay for

#33 I hear the newer Hp tablet "tx2" is a lot better than this model. The screen is more clearer, Multi touch, and more responsive. I've used the tx2500z and I would have to say it kinda sucks if you make fast strokes with your pen, it will skip. From my experiences( I use my tablet to sketch and concept )I would have to go with Fujitsu life book tablet. They cost more, but you are getting a better tablet that is much more responsive. I don't know how it compares to the new tx2 until I have a chance to try them out.

I saw the notice on bensbargains just a few minutes after it was published, and I ordered the hp tx2500z on 12/22/08. I counted myself lucky to have gotten in the order before the "coupons" ran out. Order shipped from China on Friday, 12/26 and got delivered to East Coast USA by Monday (12/29) morning. The only trouble was that my "tx2500z" turned out to be an older model tx2000. From looking at reviews of the tx2500z, it was clear that it replaced a very flawed tx2000 only 6 months after the tx2000s was released.

I called customer service (India) and got told that the tx 2000 and tx2500z were "the same computer." When I referenced reviews stating that they obviously were not, I finally got an RMA number. I did not expect bait and switch from HP, but I will from now on. I think I'll contact "HP Central" and make a stink about this.
