costco has the philips 5992 for $5 bucks more and it's 10x better than this one.

$35 for a POS dvd player?

Agree with #1. Just got a Philips 5992. Not a bad little player, but it is quite noisy when loading discs. Not too bad while it's playing. Oh, and HDMI + USB + DiVX support = kills the Colby.

Picked up a Sony a couple of weeks ago with same features and more for only $40. Can't agree more with what's already been said - find a better player for the same price.

When can I see blue ray at this price?

#5, when it's replaced by something better and they're all obsolete. About 15 years from now.

So, Blu-Ray or DVD w/ upconverting??? I doubt my 55 inch, 720p/1080i would show any difference.

Upconverter DVD costs less and Sony/bologna doesn't get the royalties.

Blu-Ray might have a longer life if DVDs go away.

Any opinions?
