Does this produce video that is viewable on PC/Mac without conversion? 2 years ago, similar product from Canon create separate files for video and audio streams and need a software converter to create PC/Mac compatible video file (unlike Sony).

Did Canon do it smarter now or is it still the same?

Can anyone suggest a good case for this?

This is a great camcorder. Records a crisp picture and is very easy to use. It also does surprisingly well in low light environments. After setting the white balance, I was able to take good video in a factory with sodium lighting.

Is this an old model? Why a low price?

#4, older and refurb. Still good cam tho.

HD DVCams are coming down in price a bit... Slowly.

Great camcorder. This is an older model w/ great video quality because it uses tape instead of the low bit rate AVC.hd codec. The HV30 has a mic input if you need that.

HV20 has mic input as well. I'd stay away from refurbs and would rather get HV30.
