I wouldn't be caught sleeping without my memory foam mattress, but I think you can get a 2" mattress, that will be just as comfortable, for less.

If you sleep on your stomach, the thicker it is the WORSE you will sleep. I had a 2" with 5 density and my back was killing me after I started sleeping on it.
Took it off and hard workerto my firm mattress and all is well.
Be sure to get high density foam; 5 at a bare minimum. Anything lower than that and it's not much different plain old foam at 1/3 the cost.
