Not many audiophiles on this thread. Headphones matter for peeps that use public transpo to work. Trust me... riding the subway with a pair of $10 headphones with the vol on max will kill your hearing.

Delicious thread going on here! Without reading the brotherly/sisterly exchanges betwixt y'all, I read the product description because I thought the dollar figure was a typo, and when I got to this line it all made sense: "The Hi-definition MicroSpeaker is a single balanced armature drive which delivers full range audio." Frankly, I have no clue what that line means, nor do most people I would assume. So, based on the genius marketing talent behind this tag line, and under the principle that "the masses are asses," we can deduce that people will actually buy this product because they are ignorant of a marketing gimmick loquaciously imposed on them and assume that what they do not understand must therefore be true or stand for the real thing or something better than expected, for, it is in print is it not? While I would like to think that Santa Clause is already preparing toys for all the good little girls and boys for next year, and that a single balanced armature drive is capable of delivering full range audio to the extent I have never experienced before, I think that similar items have been available throughout the holiday season for just a few bucks. Yet, I am not audiophile nor am I an ear-bud expert, however, this is an atrocious price for such a device. Should anyone actually succumb to this deal, please share your most heightened audio experience with us so that we, too, can contemplate a similar purchase. Enjoy the season kiddos!

I got a pair a few months back and i can't really tell the differences.

Price the latest 3 way armature headphones. The latest and best on the market range from $400 to $500. The Shure here is entry level.

#27 - Highly intriguing for certain. I find your link quite illuminating as I was not aware that the market contained such high-end ear-buds. Now, I do have a question. For the price, just how durable are these things? I recently bought a cheap Skype headset wherein the wiring is extremely thin and fragile in my opinion. The wiring on the ear-buds to which this discussion relates looks equally thin and fragile. I would be concerned that with continual use the wiring would break or could come loose from either end. Curious indeed given the price point.

I've heard no build complaints from the Westone 3 owners on Head-Fi.org. I doubt many people would spend $400 if the company made earphones that fell apart, or weren't durable for everyday use. High end is considered to be the Westone 3 $400.00, Shure SE530 $500.00, and the Sennheiser IE8 $449.95
