I was a big fan of this camera whan I first got it - and I still am (LOVE the HD video and other adjustable features). However, what others said about eating batteries is true. I Got a lot of mileage out of the CRV3 pack that came with it. However, when I replaced it with 2 AA Lithiums, they died an early death - with no warning as there's no battery life indicator. Odd thing is, they all test as having about 75% power left. For $100 you can't beat it, but make sure you've got batteries on hand (I broke down and ordered rechargables).

I'm not sure about this model, but a Z8612 with a 12x lens has no view finder. All pics must be taken using the screen=shorter battery life! Check this out before buying if it's important to you. But at this price?????

I love this camera especialy the HD video. The picture is also very good. Paranoma is good but a little blury when zoom in (I only try a few times when lighting is not optimal so may be just the lighting.
This camera is bad when it use higher ISO mode (too noisy)
I got the rechargable battery and charger set on Ebay for $14 and it works great. I recharge once and its last for more than 2 weeks (400-500 pictures). So #1, you should get one of those instead of throwing your money out on lithium.

It uses Schnieder lens, the one is much better than Kodak's own lens.
