Most reviewers complain about the slow speed (10Mbps) of this NAS system..

#2, 10 Mbps corresponds to 1 Mbytes/sec.

#3, 10Mbps actually equates to about 1.25MBps.
You are right though, PC World tested the throughput as 4.7MBps, which is just terrible.
Your money would be better served with a Drobo and its Gigabit Network adapter.

I like this price, but am not pleased with the NAS200 reviews. I'm considering the D-Link DNS-323 and 321, both with gigabit ports. The reviews seem to be better. Any thoughts from anybody who has either?

#5 - I have this item. The speed is extremely slow compared to a local drive. However, it's been rock solid and there are no problem streaming audio.
For $80 which is less then I paid it is an excellent backup device to store offsite or even as a NAS.

Grab any random old slimline OEM system from the past 8 years, throw a gigabit nic and SATA raid card in, presto you're done and have more than 2 drive capability plus more than triple the performance.
