i have one of these. i dropped it. now its no longer an autofocus lens.

price is a bit high, IMO. get a used one for way cheaper.

What are the chances of getting the f1.4 lens in the switch?

my camera came with a Canon EF-s 18-55 - can anyone tell me the differences? And yes, I know that I am a super novice on this topic.

The prime will be sharper and is much faster - with a max aperture of f1.8, you can get shallower depth of field (good for portraits - getting things in the background out of focus), as well as have shorter exposure times due to the wider aperture letting more light in, which would make it better for shots in the evening, especially if you don't have an image stabilized lens.

Nifty Fifty. This lens is so sharp. Great for portraits.

i've never had any problems with abe's of maine. i've bought 1 point & shoot camera, 1 flash unit, and my plasma from them. never any problems. i ordered my plasma sunday night; they called me wednesday to schedule delivery.

i was also leery of abes, but bought my dslr from them anyway, and while they did try to sell me some more items i didn't need, it was only a quick try, and they were not pushy at all. i have since bought this lens, and they never called. probly only do it with more expensive orders..

I just received my first order from Abe's today with no problems. The Canon camera was exactly what I ordered and came with the USA warranty. I was never called by one of their sales people and the camera was delivered within the promised time window.

I can't say whether the bad experiences others report having with Abe's are true or not, just that mine was satisfactory. Plus, their price with the $15 off coupon was the lowest I could find online for my camera.
