$515 for speakers that can't be placed in the best location for optimum separation and directly under most screens existing speakers? WTF!? This is for people who TRULY have too much money.

These speaker bars are just the latest gimmick to steal money from intellectually deficient yuppies.

Whats the tech behind these? Is there some type of dsp built into the enclosure? Or is this just the same as sitting all 5 speakers together under your tv?

#1, there is no such thing as "too much money".

There is a dsp that claims to give you "surround" but lets face it- how many devices have you seen that claim the same actually deliver? - zero.

I don't think you see DSP's built-in until you get up to the level of the Yamaha YSP stuff (that actually works, more or less, but is $$$)

You can get a pretty nice set of separate speakers and an amp for <$500 that'll sound better ... depends on space and tolerance for wires and speaker stands, I guess.

I would want to hear these in stores before purchasing. Paradigm is a fantastic company with an excellent product, but I'm not to familiar with the all-in-one "bar" type speakers.

I'm interested in a sound bar like this since I don't really have the space for speakers next to my TV even though I have them already. Does anyone know any other alternatives to this that have 3 designated speaker inputs (Left, Right, and Center)? I already have a receiver that I'm using so I don't need an AV receiver built into a speaker bar, nor would I want to use something like that.

this company makes a great quality products, but the vendor is not worth the hassle. See if jr.com has it and have them price match.

#3 where did you get the idea that there is a DSP built in? This is just has three speakers in a single cabinet.

yeah it's just meant to be the front l/r and center channel in one unit, i think it's a neat idea for use w/ a flat panel tv
