How much did those new adoptor shell out for these back in June? It's like 50% hit in 6 months or $50 an month... the stock market wouldn't have lost you that much!

two 4850's for $288 shipped (no rebates, newegg) are way better and cheaper than one gtx280!!

(Plus, 4850's can be found cheaper AR)

i'd still rather have a single card solution than to deal with crap drivers for sli/xfire..

and that single card would be a 4870.

I think mobo's with the Lucid Hydra chip will fix multi-card setups by not having to use crap sli/xfire drivers...hopefully .

The last time I checked, ATI's scaling options didn't work right. With the NVIDIA drivers I can have 1024x768 games or apps scaled up to 1280x1024 without losing the 4:3 aspect ratio. ATI has similar options in its control panel, but they didn't work right and everything was stretched to the full screen size. It would be even worse if I was one of the idiots who bought a widescreen monitor.

    ATI sucks. Stick with nVidia.

#1. you are right. plus the stock market can bounce back this year. this video card will dive further down to only $100 by the end of the year.

Don't pay for any video card while it's above $100, unless either you're dumb, or loaded with $$, but you won't be here at first place if you're loaded with $$.
All video cards drop to sub $100 eventually, and the rate of dropping now days is in a blinding speed, much faster speed than the video card itself, I'd say.

You're right, #3. Just got 4870 $140 AR + PP cashback @ Egg couple week ago.

Although, I'd be great to have a powerful single card solution, the problem is that these high performance cards are just too long. In my case, I have several hard drives installed that just doesn't allow me to install a GTX 280.

As #2 pointed out, 2xHD4850s are cheaper and performs just as well as a single GTX 280 on some games, and there are some shorter versions being sold out there. The shorter cards are a major plus.

But it all depends on your preference and setup.

And yea, ATI's scaling isn't perfect. It works on some games and apps and just doesn't seem to work on others. Pretty strange.

#5, you are incorrect. The scaling works perfectly fine on my 24" widescreen LCD. But then, your entire post is retarded so I'm not sure why I'm responding to it, except to alert others that you are, in fact, a retard.
