Price are getting lower due to the new 7200.12 model with only 2 platters.

I'm not happy with the lower warranty either but be sure to use your Amex card if have one to get the extra year of warranty making it 4 years.

I love the new 3 year warranty. I don't use any drive I have that are more than 3 years old anyways and this way everyone will stop whining with the maxtor and WD's about only having 3 years. HA!

#4 - you're happy with the 3 year warranty because that's all your boy friend came with.

#4 so you just use a hard drive, then throw it away?

in 2 years, what do you think the market price will be for a 1.5TB with a 1 year warr vs a 3 year one? I have two 1.5TB myself and selling hdd's with a longer warr sure make it sound nicer.

#1 it's really 1 and a half platters; since the platters have 250GB on each side, there are 3 heads instead of 4, resulting in 750GB. The other side of the "half-platter" is not magnetically coated either to save on production costs.

It has a 5 year warranty.
    Look at NewEgg under specifications.
