How do you know that the thing is working correctly. I wouldn't touch a refurbished with a ten-foot pole, not 1 that cost 1 grand (believe me, I KNOW).

#21, You can tell it works properly by using it...

#21, I don't believe you know jack about Apple refurbs. Every refurb I have bought from apple arrived in NEW condition, with full warranty. There was absolutely no way you could tell it from new. Google around, and you will find that as the general consensus. There are a LOT of companies that I would not by a refurb from, but Apple is not one of them.

I don't think this is the version that was nearly $3,000. That was the solid state hard drive version.

I buy all my apple products refurbed whenever possible and have had great luck. I did have an issue once with a cd drive on a refurbed g5 desktop. I dropped it off at a local mac shop and had it was returned in three days with a new drive. Try that with a Dell.

Telstar: they still sell refurbed minis but lately they seem a little hard to come by. Yesterday's apple news was rumored to include a new mini and it looked promising as a few manufacturers have some updated hardware leaked.

I don't know much about these and I'm not even sure that this model has it, but the magnetic connection for the power cord seems like a great feature. The weakest point in PC laptops (besides battery lives of about a year to 18 months) that I have seen is the power cord connection. Sooner or later, the connection between the power cord and the motherboard breaks, rendering a cheap laptop useless, unless you know how to solder well.

"Scroll down some and you'll find $400 pc laptops, brand new ones, with better specs than this refurb. "
But then you're stuck with a PC... Very Happy

You have to see the Mac Air in person to appreciate how thin and light it is. $999 is approaching reasonable for this. If you spend a lot of time at Starbucks / Barnes & Noble...this could get you laid.

Yep , got burned at the Apple refurb store.... they sent me a unit with a bad battery... so much for their riggeress testing standards.....
