Not bad, but the ink costs $40 plus if you need to replace.

I have this printer, it works great but yeah the ink is freakin' $$. you can't refill the ink UNLESS you buy a chip resetter (available on eb@y).

I have this printer and paid the same amount last year. It's a very good printer.

    #3,
    Thanks, I'll check that out.

I have this model too. First time I bought a non-HP printer.
I don't print often, and found the HP inks would always dry out if not in constant use.
even though the inks for this printer cost $$$, I'm surprised how long they last, and the colors are separate cartridges.
This was a great purchase at $149 when I bought it.

Good printer, have one for over a year, but wouldn't buy Cannon again. The ink carts are too expensive and can you beleive it, they don't always work. I bought a set of Cannon carts and they have given me more trouble. The error reads that the carts have two the same which is not the case. The horror is that if all the carts are working you can't print! The multi-function printer is disabled until you fix the cart problem. These carts are over $14 each and I'm not about to toss go ones away or stock pile them. I checked the boards and this is a common problem. I'm going to another printer when I find a good deal.

I sell a lot of these and fix them at a computer store and they are good. But yeah Canon needs better quality control on their #8 inks. A number of customers have had DOA inks. Generic inks are the way to go IF it is a kind that will not clog the print head. I don't know of a reliable one yet. Staples brand inks are bad news though.
