For a few dollars more you can get a WD or Seagate, definitely worth the extra money.

Geez, you guys are paranoid. A) Why keep year old data? It's obsolete. 2. Rotate! 4 1TB HDD -- 1 --> 2 --> 3 --> 4 --> 1 every Sunday night. No worries.

#20. It will be ice cold when it quits spinning. What was your last one, a Maxtorr 5 1/2"- they made terrific noises, like data torture.

I got stung with their "brand new" white label 750GB deal a few weeks ago (http://bensbargains.net/deal/88131/). #25, no way of telling, but the model number was made to look like a WD. The label was generic, and said "remanufactured". Tried it out for the heck of it while waiting days for the RMA, and it was cool when idle, but got burning hot to the touch after a few minutes of bad sector scan. Will never trust that company again.

Here's a refurb Samsung F1 for $82

http://www.unityelectronics.com/product-product_id/4785/m/Samsung/p/HD103UJ_R

I think I'd rather have a refurb than a white label; at least with the refurb the manufacturer is not ashamed to keep their name on it.
