Why are people still buying these like hotcakes? The cost factor argument isnt really valid because after buying games and accesories your net cost is equal to or greater than buying another system ie. Xbox 360 or PS3

I know right? I can't believe people are still having trouble finding one of these systems. I bought mine at gamestop last february. I only play it when we gather the whole family for mario kart or tennis.

LMAO @ #4.
you completely bought into the S that Nintendo put on your plate and ate it with a big smile on your freckled face.
I don't know about you, but when I play games, it's always casual.

#4 would be correct. I know many people who own a Wii, but would never even consider buying an x-box or PS3.
So apparently #5, it is you that doesn't understand the market.

#1 - What you say is true... but how many “family fun 4 player” games could you get for a PS3 or Xbox. That's why you never need to buy "extra accessories" for PS3 or Xbox. As a marketing revenue steam those guys just miss that whole idea.
They don't put out near the titles Nintendo releases for multi-payer fun, although that said Nintendo needs more games that are group orientated.
I suppose for those who might not live any place close to a population base where it’s easy to drive, ordering online makes sense. But I'm sure you check store availability and you can find it without forking out $9 shipping.

As you should be aware from watching the commercials for Xbox 360, the 360 offers more than 200 family games but as for the PS3 I can not speak.

#8, Slapping an "E" rating on a game does not make it a "family game".

So #6:
You admit that you've bought into the "marketing" angle that Nintendo is throwing at you?
First of all the Wii doesn't push for new technology, PS1 had a motion sensing controller.
Second, it doesn't push for quality sound (still running mp3/bit-map tech)
Third, it doesn't push for quality software (Brawl still looks and responds badly)
Fourth, the controllers are not even accurate (hence Wii Motion Plus)
Last but not least, the Wii targets an audience that is afraid of winning while at the same time targets an audience that is afraid of losing.
This machine pushes for mediocrity.
We (that includes me) were suckers into buying this thing. Apparently, I'm one the few on this post to see through Nintendo's crap.

#11, I didn't "buy" into anything. The numbers clearly show the Wii is being purchased by a much wider market than the higher technoligy machines like the XBox 360, and PS3. It's actually being bought by a larger audience than the PS2 as well.
Marketing strategies or not, there are people who otherwise wouldn't purchase a game machine purchasing it.
I don't think you would ever see a PS3 being used in physical therapy like you would a Wii. That is just a small example of where the Wii is for a larger audience.

Simple, the Wii has gone viral. One person got it, it's all over Good Morning America and that crap. Parents see kids smiling and flailing their arms instead of the "Gamer Glaze" where their kids go into a near comatose state moving only their thumbs, and figure that is "better" for them. Glad to see hyperactivity has replaced concentration. Almost time for dinner where are the Honey Frosted Sugar Bombs(tm)?

Debating video game consoles on the Internet isn't going to solve your real problems; namely the fact that the whole lot of you will never kiss a girl.

more bluntly - there are two kinds of people who play video games - kids and losers with no life. nintendos are for kids, xbox & ps3 are for the others

So #13:
Let me get this straight, people pay to go get P/T, but really they're just paying p. therapist for something you could have done at home....
You really crack me up, that is a lousy example....
You're still telling me you haven't "bought" into anything??? Are you serious?!!? @_@

Why can't Wii be friends?
Thanks, I'll be here all week. Just like the rest of the trolls.
