It's already my 6th iPhone 3G 16GB. I'm sure the rest of the 5 are within those refurbished models with:
- Dead Pixels
- Cracked
- Scratches around the silver metallic edge
- Dead batteries
- Dust underneath the screen

Have fun with refurbish items haha. Most of the refurbished iPhone 3Gs are actually returns of the bad firmware so no physical problems.

You don't save little money when you enter the iPhone 3G service contract with AT&T

#6, a lot of people already know that. But the point is they are paid by the company so they don't need to pay a dime for the network service HA

the two year commitment and compulsory data plan kill this deal.

How can I get this and still keep my 2G contract?
#10   antillie - Posted 5:40 pm PST 01/12/09 (137 Posts)
#9, you can't. AT&T runs periodic audits on iPhone accounts. Even if you got a customer rep to bend the rules for you, it won't last long. On a brighter note, I am completely satisfied with my iPhone and feel I'm getting my money's worth out of the increased plan.

Well well, iPhone 3G is just using the same data plan $30 as other smartphones. I was surprised about the first iPhone came out with $20 data plan while other smartphones are still $30.

i have a 16gb iphone.. I used to be an iphone hater (i hate itunes) but the thing really is ridiculous. Its not just about the 'touch screen' like the storm, envy etc tried to emulate. its the whole interface, application community, size/weight, etc. I usually just listen to Pandora streaming via the app to keep my music fresh, and when reception isn't so hot, or there is something specific I want to listen to, I have plenty of music via the ipod function. It definitely has shortcomings like cost, NO VIDEO or PIC messaging (WTF?!?!?), true gps, bluetooth stereo but 'supposedly' the hardware is in place for all of this, they just haven't enabled it via software.
There are a crazy amount of apps, a LOT of useless crap, but definitely some real good ones ranging from games to IT stuff like logmein and RDP.
The $30 for the data plan is the same as a blackberry (from what im told), and you DEFINITELY need the data plan to make this phoen worth your while.
anyway, itunes still sucks

#12, I 100% agree with you. iPhone 3G is my first Apple product. I still don't really like iTunes, but I like the entire package you are purchasing not just the hardware. You have the large software developers backing you up with extremely easy downloadable service while on the go, no need to go through PC for installation.

Remember, Apple is selling software and hardware package, not mainly on hardware, so don't expect advance high mega pixel camera nor HDTV. At least not yet.

Yes even people so technical like me still love iPhone 3G, because even lacking state of the art hardware like Japanese phones or Nokia N series, it still ROCKS BABY, YEAH ROCK because of the package not just the phone itself.

Feel free to JAILBREAK IT for the Maximum potential!!!

Currently my turn-by-turn GPS Map is from my Nokia N95 8GB's Garmin with traffic report. Too bad iPhone 3G still doesn't fully utilizes the GPS for turn-by-turn direction. I hope Apple is up to something revolutionary in terms of GPS navigation.

Fully expect a new firmware and 75% expecting iPhone 3Gv2 to be announced in June. I'm hoping to pick up the next gen iPhone in 32GB flavor some time late this year.

#13, #14 Most of the feathers you stated lacking can be done by installing 3rd party software, I never used itune, but I can use most of the paid app on apple store for free using 3rd party software

Can you use %25 off with live.com with this?

#17, do you mean after jailbreaking the iPhone, I can install turn-by-turn GPS apps as good as Tom Tom and Garmin?

I am still waiting for the stable SIM unlock method before jailbreaking my iPhone 3G.

Also I really really hope that Apple is up to something revolutionary in terms of the currently lacking Turn-by-Turn GPS direction. I really can't drive with my iPhone's Google Map without high risk of crashing. I definitely need to have access to map when I'm out of the cellular coverage regions where I might need my GPS the most, for example in the middle of the Yellow Stone Park or hiking route.
