Why would anyone want a 4 gig MP3 player? Oh yeah, because apple products are ridiculously overpriced. Carry on.

#3, I find that I actually like the fatty nano. The slim one was too slippery in my hands. I bought an 8gb refurb last year. Works great. Great for podcast listening. Don't get me wrong, I'm no Apple fanboy. I still love my Rockboxed Sansa e280. The iPod is better for podcasts.

#6, I'm not saying iPods are superior in any way to any other mp3 player, I'll just say it has some features which are unique and useful if you want them: support for the Nike+iPod system for one. Also, it's the only mp3 player I have that will resume playing back podcasts where I left off. This feature is not available on the Sansa e280 (at least, not the Rockbox'd version), the Sansa Clip, the Creative Zen Nano, or the other Creative player I've got (forgot the name).
