its nice that it supports more than one type of memory card, but I live by 2 rules in life... 1 God can do anything he wants, and 2 Sony sucks

#1, let's just get straight to the chase and get a Canon 40D!

Canon 40D and 50mm f/1.8 cost $670 + $80. Awesome deal for those who might upgrade to better body in the future.

But Sony DSLR-A200K w/18-70mm lens for $400 is awesome deal for those who don't want to upgrade.

future proof your system by spending a bit more for similar Canon or Nikon systems. Sony system (especially on the lens end, does Minolta even make new lenses anymore?) doesn't have much of a upgrade path compared to the big TWO.

Good camera for someone who wants a basic DSLR. Sure Canon and Nikon have staying power, but Sony might too. The big question is whether you want to spend a lot more on Canon and Nikon equipment. Sony lenses are 1/2 the price if not less on lots of lenses. Don't forget that your lens collection and flash will typically be 2x-3x the amount spent on the camera body.

Sony purchased Minolta.. so it's a Minolta base with some newer Sony technology. Nice cameras with good features for the price. I think better than the Canon and Nikon offerings at the same price.

Whats nice about this camera is that it uses alot of the available lenses. I have a Minolta Maxxum that this camera uses the lenses from. This camera has a lot more versatility for the money.

    Nikon or nothing.

theres a great article that highlights some fatal flaws that sony made in the design; one i remember was a tiny niche below the pop-flash that leads striaght into the body at the shutter curtain/reflex lens - one drop of water and your sony is a really nice door stop.

haanul where did you see a cannon 40D for $670? I'm just about to buy an XSI, but would probably go for a 40D instead.
