CircuitCity DEAD -Circuit City is liquidating, meaning they are going ka-put. It is just hitting the news wires that they will sell all inventory from their 567 stores. Look for some good sales on this inventory, but don't expect to be able to return anything or to get any store support for your purchases.

All CC's being liquidated.

I totally agree with #2. If you have a gift card from CC, get there TODAY as quickly as you can, and use it. Only buy stuff that will not break.

And if any of you have spare time, go to your local CC today and make a mental picture of their inventory and prices.

Tomorrow (next day, whatever) go back to the same CC and take a look. You will see DIFFERENT items, and inflated/marked down prices on the items that were there before. Buyer beware.

Yeah, they probably do mark up prices on certain preoducts, but if they are like K-Mart, there are still things you can get at discounts. I got some xBox 360 accessories (quick charger and cooler) and their video games were also marked down below normal price.

#16 is right, when compusa liquidated it was a huge joke. The "amazing" prices were terrible and no returns. Most consumers just get caught up in the idea so they get tricked.

I stopped at a CC store a couple of months ago that was being liquidated. They were at 30% off and almost everything in the store was gone. Based on the prices of the remaining stuff, the things that sold could not have been bargains at all. I left disgusted with the stupidity of people. It is like eBay bidders that bid up something above what you would pay at Target.

Shocking that the Messiah and Congress aren't throwing a billion at the company. Heck, they did it for their union buddies at GM.

Wait--that explains it--no union buddies at Circuit City.

Not good, I kind of liked them, especially compared to Best Buy. This is not good news for the consumer. If BB follows, you will see the Walmarts start jacking their low price crap.

This is cyclical, but not good short term. Our economy needs these companies to weather the storm. Stop wishing companies failure, it will trickle down to all of us.

BB was and is stronger than CC ever has been.

The prices probably will not be all that great as #16 and #30 point out because CC under the bankruptcy filing will hire a professional liquidation company just like CompUSA because the creditors and debt holders that are taking the hit in the filing will want any cash that they can get from the sale of the inventory that is left or the sale of any other hard assests like delivery trucks or store fixtures. Also expect some of the better merchandise to be gone immediately because the liquidation company will cut a deal with another firm to buy say 500 units of 42 inch plasmas for 70 cents on the dollar or less. The stores will more than likely have their existing inventories and that will be it and the sale will start at 30% off on the good stuff. It will also be interesting to watch to see if you have another TigerDirect come out of the woodwork as with CompUSA.
